Walter Memorial Golf Tournament—not simply to compete, but to honor Chuck’s love of golf, his Catholic faith, and his lifelong commitment to family and Catholic education.
Through every round played, raffle ticket purchased, and sponsorship received, this tournament will carry forward Chuck’s legacy by supporting Seton Catholic School Athletics and providing uniforms, equipment, and opportunities for its student-athletes.
Charles J. “Chuck” Walter — A life spent giving.
December 5, 1947 – September 25, 2025
Charles Joseph “Chuck” Walter was born on December 5, 1947, in Geneva, Nebraska. A lifelong golfer, devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and committed supporter of Catholic education, Chuck lived with a competitive spirit, a generous heart, and a deep appreciation for family and friendship.
Chuck earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, where he was a member of the Cornhuskers golf team. He continued to enjoy competitive golf throughout his life. One of his greatest golfing achievements came in 1973, when he won the Nebraska Match Play Championship. Whether competing, playing with friends, or simply enjoying time on the course, golf remained an important part of his life.
Chuck was deeply committed to his Catholic faith and strongly believed in the importance of Catholic education. While living in Illinois, he served on the school board at St. Margaret Mary Catholic School in Algonquin. After moving to Kentucky, he assisted with the capital campaign that helped fund Seton Catholic School and served on its initial school board.
He was an active member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, serving on the School Council and Stewardship Committee. Chuck was also a Knight of Columbus, served a term as Grand Knight, and enjoyed being a member of the Knights’ bowling team.
Above all, Chuck treasured his family. He and his wife, Donna, shared 51 years of marriage. He was a loving father to Jennifer and Chad and a proud grandfather to Channing, Everly, Anna, Dakota, and Nevin. His family and friends will remember his sense of humor, competitive nature, enthusiasm for life, and the joy he found in being the “Tickle Monster” to his grandchildren.
Chuck passed away on September 25, 2025, at the age of 77. The Charles J. Walter Memorial Golf Tournament celebrates his love of golf, devotion to his Catholic faith, commitment to Catholic education, and—most importantly—the family and friendships that meant so much to him.

Set in the heart of Kentucky horse country, Thoroughbred Golf Club offers a championship layout with rolling fairways and true, fast greens — a fitting stage for a tournament built on tradition. Lunch and the awards program follow at The Barn at High Point.

What's included in my entry fee?
18 holes with cart, lunch and beverages, a player gift, mulligans, skirts, and entry into the Charles in Charge contest — everything is included, with nothing to add on the day.
How do I pay?
Payment isn't collected online. After you register, Chad will confirm your spot and follow up with instructions to pay by check or in person at check-in.
What's the format?
A four-person scramble, shotgun start, all 18 holes played simultaneously beginning at 9:00 AM.
I don't have a full foursome — can I still play?
Absolutely. Register as an individual and we'll place you with a group.
What if it rains?
